Every Alnitak Resources platform advances through the same seven phases, from diligence to closure and rehabilitation. The lifecycle gives sovereign partners, capital partners and development finance institutions a common reference for where a platform stands, what has been completed, and what must be satisfied before it advances.
Advancement is gated. A platform moves to the next phase only when the standards for its current phase are met, documented and reviewed.
-
01 Phase 1: Diligence
Technical, commercial, legal and counterparty assessment of the opportunity and of its host-country context, including the environmental and social baseline.
Gate to the next phase: The opportunity is assessed as technically sound, legally clear and consistent with the firm’s standards, and the decision to proceed is documented.
-
02 Phase 2: Onboarding
Engagement with the host government and local partners, and agreement on the platform’s legal, partnership and governance structure.
Gate to the next phase: Framework agreements and the operating structure are in place.
-
03 Phase 3: Financing
Arrangement of the capital structure: institutional capital, development finance and risk mitigation, calibrated to the platform’s profile.
Gate to the next phase: Financing is committed and its conditions are satisfied.
-
04 Phase 4: Development
Construction and commissioning of processing and supporting infrastructure, built to the environmental and social standards the platform is designed to meet.
Gate to the next phase: Commissioning is complete and operating readiness is confirmed.
-
05 Phase 5: Operating
Production under the platform’s operating, environmental, social and governance standards, with continuous operational, environmental and social reporting.
-
06 Phase 6: Care and maintenance
Operations are suspended while the property is kept safe, secure and environmentally stable, pending a decision to restart or to close.
-
07 Phase 7: Closure and rehabilitation
Decommissioning, rehabilitation of the land and transition support for the community, under a closure plan that is built in from the first phase and followed by post-closure monitoring.
The gate between phases
Each transition is reviewed against documented criteria: technical and commercial soundness, legal standing, environmental and social standards aligned with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) Performance Standards, and governance and disclosure requirements. A platform that does not meet the criteria for its current phase does not advance. Closure planning is part of every gate, not a final-phase exercise.
